Florida law requires that all animal exposures from a suspected or known rabid animal are reported to the Florida Department of Health in the county in which the incident occurred, in accordance with Chapter 381, Florida Statutes, and Chapter 64D-3, Florida Administrative Code.
The Department investigates all reported potential human and pet rabies exposures to protect human health. If you have been bitten, scratched, or had any saliva contact from an animal that can carry rabies into a wound or mucous membrane, seek medical attention immediately.
