Children’s Programming 

The Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County recognizes the need to provide healthy eating and physical activity programming for children. Over the last several years the Department saw an increase in the number of overweight and obese children. Hence, the FDOH-Hillsborough began looking at the data and evaluating effective childhood fitness, obesity, and nutrition programs resulting in the creation of a program that would help children in our community. The Get Into Fitness Together – Learning Emotional Activity Program (GIFT-LEAP) program was developed by Registered Dietitians, Nutritionists, and Certified Health Education Specialists. The GIFT-LEAP is designed for families with 5-9 year old children to increase healthy eating and physical activity.
