Onsite Sewage Treatment

Florida Department of Health - Hillsborough County

Approximately one-third of the households in the State of Florida are served by an Onsite Sewage Treatment and Disposal System (OSTDS).  Hillsborough County has more than 120,000 septic systems.  The OSTDS Section ensures that septic systems are permitted and inspected to the standards of Florida Administrative Code 64E-6.  These standards help to protect the citizens and visitors of Hillsborough County from potential health hazards and protect the surface and drinking waters of Florida.
Environmental Health Services is located at 1105 E. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa, FL  33602 in Suite 201 on the second floor of the Health Departments main building.  The OSTDS office hours are 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and we are closed for lunch from 12:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m.  If you visit or telephone our office during these hours we have staff available to assist you with the permitting process.  The OSTDS applications are accepted at the Environmental Health Services office either by hand delivery, mail, fax or e-mail.  Applications sent by fax and e-mail will require a Credit Card Authorization Form to be completed or you can telephone the credit card information to our office for payment.  The Credit Card Authorization Form can be found under the “Other Forms” section.
