Community Dental Program

Florida Department of Health - Hillsborough County

WIC SMILES 4 U (Community Dental Program)

Community based preventive dental program developed to address the oral health needs of pregnant and postpartum women, infants, and children of Hillsborough County. The Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County along with our dental partners; Suncoast Community Health Centers, Inc. and Tampa Family Health Centers, Inc. integrate systems of care to increase access and reduce oral health disparities of our community. Our continuous effort reduce caries incidence of our high risk, vulnerable populations.

Who qualifies for the program?

  • Mom must be pregnant or up to six months postpartum.
  • Child must be 6 months old -20 years old

What services does the program provide?

  • Oral risk assessment
  • Oral hygiene instructions
  • Fluoride varnish
  • Sealants on permanent teeth
  • Teeth cleaning
  • Referral to a dental health home

Where can I access the services?

  • The dental mobile coach is parked at various locations throughout Hillsborough County.

Do I have to make an appointment?

  • To schedule an appointment, call 813-373-8665. Appointments are not required, but it is recommended that you call to find out the nearest
    date and location.

What do I need to bring?

  • You will need to download and complete a medical history form (English or Spanish) or you may fill out the form on the dental mobile when you arrive.

Is the service free?

  • Yes! If you do not have Medicaid then the Florida Department of Health will pay for your dental needs while you qualify.
